As
Hawaii's uniquely Japanese-themed all suite resort, Diamond
Resort Hawaii is among the most unique hotels in the state
and yet it is surprisingly affordable. Perched 300 feet above
the beautiful Wailea coastline, nearly all of Diamond Resort's
72 luxury suites offer inspiring views of Kaho'olawe, Lana'i
and Molokini islet.
 One-bedroom
suites feature kitchenettes, bathrooms with deep soaking tubs,
and lanais with garden or ocean views. Solitude (or near-solitude)
and silence—except for birdsong and the sound of the
mountain stream cascading down the resort's natural-contour
hillside—are available everywhere. Even social life
is as restrained as guests wish when they encounter one another
at the resort's three restaurants, baths, swimming pool, library,
or other public spaces.
 Partially
open to western views, separate men's and women's baths make
it possible for guests to enjoy the sun melting into the ocean
while they are submerged in a warm, flowing-water bath. Like
everything else at Diamond Resort, the baths are spacious
enough to suspend guests in silence. Room keycards, not fees
and appointments, are all that's necessary to enter the baths
and enjoy a sauna, a waterfall massage, and a thorough soaping
and rinsing next to the bathing pool. Adjacent to the baths,
the health spa offers hydrotherapy, men's and women's facials,
various massages, and body scrubs/wraps. One level below the
baths is a large swimming pool surrounded by a sundeck.
Dining: Le Gunji, which is described by Zagat's
as serving "superb teppanyaki with a European slant attracting
a near cult-like following". Restaurant Taiko, serving
Japanese and French cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner,
including an extensive sushi bar. Capische?, featuring lively
Italian cuisine served in a fun and relaxing environment.
